Racquel Knight is a global citizenship major student at Becker College who is passionate about bringing solutions to global problems and changing the world. Knight earned an associate of science degree in general agriculture and a diploma to teach secondary education in agricultural science, biology, and integrated science in Jamaica before moving to the U.S. in 2011 with her mother and sister. Knight is a 2015-2016 Millennium Fellow. She applied for the fellowship along with Michele Brajevich and Amelia Karayanis (both 2015-2016 Fellows) to represent their newly found club at Becker College, We Are Global. The fellowship helped to develop a more organizational structure for the club. She learned how to delegate roles and responsibilities to other members of the club and the fellowship helped he be better leader.
Today, Racquel Knight is the founder of One Chair 4 Child. In Jamaica, there is an increased need for chairs in classrooms. Chairs are often broken or misplaced; therefore, students are sent home from school or struggle to take part during class sessions. Her vision is to eradicate the problem and create a comfortable learning environment for children who are attending school in rural areas of Jamaica. At Becker College, she is the Family Weekend Coordinator and Senior Send Off Coordinator on Campus Activities Board, President of We Are Global Club, Student Representative on Yunus Social Business Centre Advisory Board, and an honorary board member on the Becker Alumni Association Board.
