Today is a very exciting day for one of our Millenium Fellows Chelsea! Abigail, Programs Director at the Millennium Campus Network, and John Beahm, Executive Director of The Jenzebar Foundation, presented 2013-2014 Millennium Fellow Chelsea of Global Medical Brigades with a $5,000 grant towards Medical Supplies for their week-long service trip to Sartenejas, Honduras coming up in January.
As we stepped into the Advising offices at Boston University, you could tell that Chelsea was incredibly excited. Chelsea is a Cultural Anthropology and pre-med student at Boston University and the President of Global Medical Brigade. She talked about her studies and the preparations taking place for the service trip to Honduras. It was evident that she truly enjoys helping others and is working hard to make the world a better place right now!
The Global Medical Brigades provide life changing assistance to those in need such as medical consultations with a licensed physician or gynecologist, consultations with a licensed dentist, prescription of medication, basic health education through seminars and posters, and fluoride treatment for local children.
We have featured Chelsea in our blog before as part of the Millennium Fellowship Program. She is a perfect example of how student leaders can affect change right now!
