Morgan Moran established the ONE Campus chapter at her school in May 2013 and in its opening year, it has managed to garner a significant Twitter following and Facebook Likes. The group uses social media to promote awareness about issues of global poverty and encourage their peers to advocate for change by engaging their representatives in Congress. Morgan has represented her school's chapter at the ONE Power Summit in February where she learned essential community organizing and advocacy skills.
On why she wants to attend MCC2014: "I would like to attend MCC2014 to learn about what students from poverty-fighting groups around the country are doing to spread awareness for global issues and take action for real and lasting change. I feel that I have powerful insight as a student starting up my own student organization chapter on my college campus and effecting change on multiple levels. The contacts and experiences I could gain from other attendees would be tremendously helpful both in the efforts of my student group, as well as for my personal goal to pursue a career in the fight against global poverty."
Morgan, as well as many other student leaders from across the globe, will be joining us this October 10-12th, 2014 at the 6th Annual Millennium Campus Conference. There, they and other students will be exchanging ideas and talking about how to achieve the UN Millennium Goals. in addition, everyone will be able to attend keynote speeches by influential global leaders such as Nicholas Kristof, Dr. Paul Farmer, among others.
