Delegate Spotlight: Jake Kurczewski

Jake is a student at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He is the current president of the Animal Rights Society. Read to find out more about Jake and his inspiring journey!

In the past year, Jake's student organization has contributed to an incredible spread of education and action concerning sustainable eating without meat product. They have implemented a campus-wide Meatless Monday Initiative with the incorpration of vegetarian and vegan food options for each meal time. The organization has also brought sustainable diet issues to light by screening movies on campus and having speakers on animal food ethics talk to them. In the coming years, the Animal Rights Society wishes to further their actions in other forms of unnecessary animal "entertainment" and put an end to animal cruelty.

On why Jake wants to attend MCC 2014: "I would be honored to attend MCC2014 because it would provide an opportunity to meet like-minded thinkers who are also enacting change around the globe. The ability to meet so many more amazing peers would inspire me even more to do action in my own town. I would gain new ideas or approaches to effective activism or potential projects to join with or start on campus. I could offer a unique prospective, as a student leader on campus in the diverse city of Madison, Wisconsin. Our university has consistently ranked among the best in the world. We have a lot of possibility for action to happen on such an influential and progressive campus."

Jake as well as many other student leaders from across the globe, will be joining us this October 10-12th, 2014 at the 6th Annual Millennium Campus Conference. There, they and other students will be exchanging ideas and talking about how to achieve the UN Millennium Goals. in addition, everyone will be able to attend keynote speeches by influential global leaders such as Nicholas KristofDr. Paul Farmer, among others. Apply now!
