Today, we invited one of our Summer 2014 Boston interns, Patricia, to share a little bit about herself and his MCN story. Read on to find out about part of our team!
My name is Patricia and I'm from the Island of Enchantment, Puerto Rico. I'm a junior at Boston University majoring in Political Science and minoring in Anthropology. I am also part of the BU International Affairs Association, actively participating in their Model United Nations Traveling Team--if you see me at a conference, say hi!
I decided to join MCN this summer because I was really striving to focus more on what I wanted as a career path. Studying Political Science, I know that I have many options and I was excited to gain experience in the non-profit world.
I'm currently focusing on VIP Engagement which means that I'm in charge of inviting VIPs to come speak at MCC2014. In addition, I contribute to this blog and do other administrative work around the office. So far, I've had a wonderful experience at MCN and have gained invaluable skills that will help me both in the professional and personal setting.
My philosophy for life is to live life creatively and with passion. I strongly believe that if you can't dedicate yourself fully or be passionate about things that you are doing, then those things aren't meant for you and you'd be better spending your creative energies elsewhere. That is why I am enthusiastic about MCC--it's bringing student leaders together who are extremely passionate about changing the world and are working on creative and innovative ideas to make a REAL change.
Have you met Lucas, Mariana, Michaela, or Melanie yet? See their posts here, here, here, or here. Keep an eye out for spotlights of the rest of our team! In the meanwhile, check out short blurbs to get to know them better here. If you are an undergraduate student leader, check out our conference page here to learn more and apply! Lucas and the fellow interns would be more than happy to talk to you should you have any questions. We hope to see you at MCC2014!
