Lauren, Millennium Fellow 2015-2016
ENgineers without Borders, boston university
Lauren is currently a Junior at Boston University, majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Public Health. For the past three years she has been part of BU's chapter of Engineers Without Borders. The BU chapter of EWB is partnered with a community in Naluja, Zambia. The group travels every summer to their partner community in Zambia to collaborate and help implement sustainable development projects that they work on and continue to monitor once back in Boston. Lauren was part of a three person travel team to Zambia in the summer of 2014. She was fortunate enough to get to work with the community members directly, and helped to implement a cell-signal amplification system and a biosand water filter education initiative. Lauren hopes to continue to work with communities like Naluja, Zambia upon graduation; working with members in the community to develop sustainable solutions to problems that affect everyday life.
