Katie Sgarro is a writer and social entrepreneur. She is Co-Founder & President of AsylumConnect, a nonprofit startup creating the first online resource database for LGBTQ asylum seekers in the U.S. She leads organizational development and works to ensure the AsylumConnect resource catalog reaches its full potential. She also strives to increase awareness and support for LGBTQ rights and LGBTQ asylum seekers in the U.S. For her work on AsylumConnect, she was selected as the winner of the Millennium Peace Prize at the 7th Annual Millennium Campus Conference at the UN (2015), a finalist for the Harvard Social Enterprise Conference Pitch Competition (2017), and named to the Clinton Global Initiative University's alumni "Honor Roll" (2017). Her work has been published and featured in The HuffPost, The Advocate, Out Magazine, Philadelphia Magazine, Forbes.com, and other outlets.
She received her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and her M.S. in Management Studies from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.
