Andrew Flagel, as the chief student affairs and enrollment officer, leads offices of Admissions, Student Activities, Financial Aid, Athletics, Housing, Orientation, Career Services, and Student Health and Counseling Services, among many others serving the Brandeis community. He is also a Senior Lecturer in the Brandeis College of Arts and Sciences, and serves on the Educational Advisory Board to US News and World Report and on the Board of Trustees of the Tremont School.
Prior to joining Brandeis, Dr. Flagel lived in Northern Virginia where he was Associate Vice President, Chair of the Bachelor of Applied Studies, and Dean of Admissions at George Mason University; Executive Director of the Washington Journalism and Media Conference and the Washington Youth Summit on the Environment; and served as the President of the Parent Teacher Organization for Bonnie Brae Elementary School.
He was previously the Director of Admissions at the Flint campus of the University of Michigan, Director of Admissions for the Congressional Youth Leadership Council, and a Regional Director of Admissions at The George Washington University, where he received his undergraduate and master’s degrees before earning his Doctorate of Philosophy from Michigan State University.
Dr. Flagel has been a featured guest on CNN, C-SPAN, and the CBS Evening News. His quotes appear in stories in USA Today, The Washington Post, Sports Illustrated, The Boston Globe, and he was once even quoted in Teen Vogue.
