Amelia Colban is passionate about increasing access to education and is currently working with two FLIP organizations to promote equal opportunity amongst college students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. A freshman at Columbia University, she is the treasurer for FLIP Columbia. To maximize the student group's capacity to serve its constituent population, she recently founded a national nonprofit, FLIP (First Generation Low Income Partnership), inc., to support student organizations devoted to building communities for first-generation and low-income students on their campuses. Amelia also serves as chair of the nonprofit organization's MicroGrants initiative, a crowdsourcing campaign to subsidize low-income students' emergency needs.
