Aashika, Millennium Fellow
Global Brigades, Brandeis University
Aashika Nagarajan is a junior at Brandeis University, majoring in Health: Science, Society, and Policy and minoring in Business. She is currently the Public Relations Chair of the Global Brigades chapter at Brandeis and has been involved with the organization since her first year. Global Brigades is an international non-profit organization that empowers under-resourced communities to meet their economic and health goals through the holistic model of sustainable development. Student volunteers participate in week-long brigades to Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua, or Ghana. Each brigade is part of the larger holistic process, and Brandeis currently offers three: Medical, Public Health, and Microfinance. Aashika is passionate about understanding the health of communities from an interdisciplinary standpoint and working with community members to create sustainable solutions that address their economic and health development goals. As one of the leaders of the Brandeis chapter, she aims to educate the campus about the impact of the organization’s work and generate discussions around the holistic model of sustainable global development. In the future, Aashika hopes to collaborate with different stakeholders in the sustainable development field to provide innovative and cost-effective solutions to global health problems.
