GlobeMed at Boston College partners Boston College undergraduate students with CORD Siruvani, a grassroots organization based in Tamil Nadu, India. In August 2014, students will spend three weeks in Thennamanallur, Tamil Nadu, India, where they will conduct quantitative clinical and bacteriological research to monitor a local sanitation initiative that seeks to reduce open defecation and decrease the bacterial load of the water supply. This will help to eliminate water-borne and diarrheal diseases. Additionally, GlobeMed at Boston College seeks to establish a sustainable monitoring/evaluation practice between GlobeMed and CORD, to ensure improvements are continuous. GlobeMed at Boston College received $3,500 from MCN to fund their project. Learn more about their work here
