human rights alliance, miami dade honors college

Kayla Valdez is a Sophomore in the Honors College at Miami Dade majoring in English.  Her passion for helping others stems from multiple experiences growing up she had by working with children from underserved communities. Her drive to influence a world of change in the education system lead her to finding positions in organizations such as being the Outreach Director for Human Rights Alliance and the Community Service Chair for Phi Beta Lambda. Within these organizations she advocates for social justice with a focus on creating an environment for equal opportunity for quality education for children. She is currently working on establishing a foundation to supply children from low income homes with a backpack filled with the necessary school supplies to be successful in their learning environments. Kayla is excited to work with the Millennium Fellows in efforts to make Miami a better community.
