Hezouwe, Millennium Fellow 2015-2016
globe med, george washington university
My name is Hezouwe Happy Awide and I a senior at the George Washington University. I'm originally from Togo, West Africa but my family now lives in Washington DC. I'm majoring in Human Services and Social Justice with a double minor in Public Health and Spanish. I am currently one of the co-president of GlobeMed at the George Washington University. GlobeMed aims to build passionate leaders and train them to work with grassroots organizations, towards global health equity. Our partner organization is called Set Her Free, a non-profit based in Kampala, Uganda, that takes young girls out of prostitution and provide them with vocational skills to be able to sustain themselves.
I am really passionate about global health and empowering young women in devolving countries to rise above socio-political barriers tying them down. My post grad plans include becoming a peace corps volunteer and then getting my masters in Global Health afterwards. In the future, I hope to work for the World Health Organization or the World Bank.
