Our amazing campaign Winners of mcc16

At our 8th Millennium Campus Conference, MCN was proud to present the winners of our two prize categories: the Millennium Oceans Prize and the Millennium X Factor Prize. These categories were awarded to two outstanding campaigns that will enrich their communities, fight for the accomplishment of one of the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals, challenge the systems in place that create inequality and challenge their peers to take action.

The Millennium X Factor Prize

This year, the Millennium X Factor Prize was awarded to The Gender Network. After receiving an overwhelming amount of campaign ideas this year surrounding gender equality, the MCN team decided to harness this passion and solidarity. Instead of only choosing one campaign, four campaigns were chosen. These four young women, four countries, four ideas comprise the Gender Network. This Network aims to unite individuals with the community and concentration of knowledge and resources to tackle the ways in which they see the manifestation of gender inequality in their own communities. We believe that collaboration, sharing stories and community-driven activism can create real change.  Learn more about each of the four campaign ideas here.

The Millennium Oceans Prize

The second annual Millennium Oceans Prize, which targets SDG 14, is graciously supported by our amazing partner, The Remmer Family Foundation. This year, the award was given to two terrific brothers, Pédrisson and Emmanuelson Bernard. The brothers have reenvisioned the ways in which we can secure the health of our oceans and life below water. Pédrisson and Emmanuelson have focused on imagining how to create proper waste management in their community of Carrefour, Haiti, in order to reduce ocean pollution. Curious about the past? Here are our campaign winners from MCC15

At our 7th Annual Millennium Campus Conference in 2015, we had over 400 submissions from undergraduate student leaders for campaigns addressing topics like peace, health, and youth. Of these submissions, 5 campaigns were chosen.
