Lily Miiller is a student of Dakota Wesleyan University where she's part of Universities Fighting World Hunger. She is also co-planner of the mission trips in her campus's Student Ministry Council. read on to find out more about Lily. why she's joining MCC2014, and how to join the movement!
Universities Fighting World Hunger sent a group of students to Rwanda and Uganda to present livestock to poverty stricken families that they had raised money for. Their group also hosted a water walk to raise money for countries who did not have clean water to drink. Lily went to her first mission trip in March 2014. The Student Ministry Council raised money to continue the construction of two churches that were already in the process of being built. In addition, they also taught students English and Math at a small school ran by missionaries. Currently, they are in the process of planning mission trips to Denver, Omaha, and Peru for the Summer 2015.
On why she's applying to MCC2014: "I hope to attend MCC2014 because I want to gain insight on how to make the world a better place. I would like to learn ways on how to be more efficient with the money that is raised to complete a project. It would also be very interesting to learn about all of the non profit organizations around the world. My long term goals are to start my own non profit to help small communities in third world countries become better off, or to work for a non profit that is already established and continue the work they have already began. As a Non Profit Administration major, I know there are a lot of changes that need to be made in the United States and around the world. I belive I can offer my experience of planning mission trip projects and my love for helping other people."
