Delegate Spotlight: Anna Zigmond

Anna Zigmond is a student at Indiana University. She will be joining us at MCC2014. Read below to find out more about her work and how you can join the movement.

Anna is the Ventures Director of her Nourish International Chapter. Last year, their organization raised money to help build a sustainable garden for a developing community community in Guatemala. In order to raise the money, Anna helped set up ventures during the school year and held various fundraising events. Nourish not only inspires students to be involved in global development, but as a member, students get to implement projects firsthand and teach others valuable skills.

On why she wants to attend MCC2014: "Not only will MCC be a great opportunity to meet professionals in the NGO world, but it will also be a learning experience that will challenge me to think outside my own box and comfort zones. I hope that by attending MCC I will gain new perspectives and even greater insight on how to help our global community. I am a very creative person and have always loved involvement in global development, which I believe has many aspects. I am extremely passionate about body image and confidence in young girls and women. I started a club at my high school that dealt with the issues and pressures girls and women face. There is a lot of development and work needed in our world for women’s equality and positive self image to get where it needs to be. My dream is to start a global organization to help better these issues. I’ve worked with several nonprofits over the years, where I’ve had experience in promoting and fundraising. I’ve also gone on two mission trips where I saw firsthand the poverty and injustice many in our world face. I want to do my part in helping, but I also want to inspire others to do their part. By interacting with international students that feel the same, I hope to learn from them and generate new ideas together."

Anna, as well as many other student leaders from across the globe, will be joining us this October 10-12th, 2014 at the 6th Annual Millennium Campus Conference. There, they and other students will be exchanging ideas and talking about how to achieve the UN Millennium Goals. in addition, everyone will be able to attend keynote speeches by influential global leaders such as Nicholas KristofDr. Paul Farmer, among others. Apply now!
