Delegate Spotlight: Reynel Mirabal

Reynel Mirabal is a student at Barry University. He was the Nourish International Chapter Founder in his university and will be representing them in their first year at MCC2014. Keep on reading to find out more details about this awesome delegate!

Reynel, apart from founding his chapter at Barry University, has attended the Legislative, Education, and Advocacy Day in Washington, DC, where he met Florida's current senators and other legislative representatives. This experience gave Reynel a better idea of the importance of staying up to date with policy makers and voting to support policies that he supports. He is also currently Guardian Ad Litem for 3 children in foster care.

On why Reynel is joining us for MCN: "My personal ambition in life is to move to a developing country to help impoverished individuals, especially human trafficking victims. Just in my family alone, I have a few victims of human trafficking. Growing up in Cuba, I witnessed the struggles my mother had to go through just in order to feed my brothers and I. While the hardest part was attaining the money to buy food, often there was no food in the markets to even purchase. Through my life experiences growing up in a developing nation, I attained a strong desire to travel abroad to other countries and help in any way possible. Attending MCC would give me invaluable insight on how to make a difference in the global community; something I have made my life’s mission. I would be exalted to be able to meet Nicholas Kristof and see Paul Farmer again; they have been role models to me for years now. Also, conversing with current NGO's that are fighting these causes at the moment will be a very enriching experience for me."

Reynel, as well as many other student leaders from across the globe, will be joining us this October 10-12th, 2014 at the 6th Annual Millennium Campus Conference. There, they and other students will be exchanging ideas and talking about how to achieve the UN Millennium Goals. in addition, everyone will be able to attend keynote speeches by influential global leaders such as Nicholas KristofDr. Paul Farmer, among others. Apply now!
